Christmas in London

We drove into London on Christmas Eve (yesterday) because we love German Christmas markets and in London, Hyde Park holds its annual Winter Wonderland. This German themed market was easily accessible because there is a parking garage right below the park.

The Christmas market was a bit too commercialized to be considered “traditional German”. The vendors weren’t as varied, but there were lots of carnival rides and things to do for families. We did find some good food and drinks, though! It was nice to relax outside while sipping Mulled Wine and drinking in the Christmas spirit.

Later, we took the tube over to Southbank Centre to visit another Christmas market and see more of the city. We watched the sun set over Parliament and leaned over the Thames to take some pictures. The line for the London Eye was so long we didn’t even consider waiting. We’ll save that for another day. By the time we took our tube ride back to Hyde Park, it was dark and Oxford Street was bustling with shoppers admiring the Christmas lights in shop windows. The hour long drive back to Reading went by quickly, and by the time we got home, we were definitely ready for bed.

Merry Christmas from the Brittains!
